Below is a summary of steps to follow between uses of the reusable components of the Limited-Use Public Health Emergency VeraSuitTM encapsulating coverall.
The VeraSuitTM reusable components typically remain inside the coverall during use and are not normally subject to exposure during usage.
A. Battery
1. Fully charge the battery. Plug the dc charger into the battery and into the wall. Turn the battery on. When charging, the charging light on the charger turns red. When fully charged, the charging light on the charger turns green, and all five battery level indicators on the battery turn green. Charge time depends on charge level when starting, but an empty battery can take 6-8 hours to fully charge. Each battery can be recharged 300 times.
2. Confirm that the battery is fully charged with all five charge lights on the battery illuminated. Never use a battery with less than all five lights charged. A fully closed coverall is a suffocation risk without a working fan.
B. Fan Cowl & Helmet
3. Both the fan cowl and helmet can be wiped with an alcohol based cleaner or disinfectant wipe. Do NOT immerse the fan cowl in a bleach bath since it has internal electronics and a bath will ruin the electronics and prevent future operation.
C. Cooling Undershirt
4. To wash the undershirt, turn the shirt inside-out so that the spacers are on the inside. Wash cold. Do not wash with hot water. Tumble dry low, or hang on a hanger to dry with spacers on the outside. It is not necessary to wash the undershirt after each wash if the undershirt is assigned to the same wearer permanently.
D. Storage
5. Hang the undershirt on a hanger until next use, with the spacers on the outside. If not stored on a hanger, then store the cooling undershirt inside-out with the spacers on the inside.
6. Store the other reusable components following practices established by your employer.

Between Uses: Inspecting the Limited-Use Public Health Emergency VeraSuitTM Encapsulating Coverall
If parts are missing or damaged, do not use VeraSuitTM encapsulating coverall assembly. Contact your supervisor.
• Fan Cowl: Inspect for cracks, holes, damage, or missing parts
• Battery: Confirm battery pack case is intact and battery is fully charged
• Battery wire: Ensure electrical wire is intact and not damaged
• Cooling Undershirt: Inspect garment for rips and inspect foam spacers for damage. Ensure that all 17 spacers are on the undershirt: 8 in front, 4 around the neck, 2 on the shoulders, and 3 in back.
• Helmet: Inspect the helmet for all parts, including all three orange hook and loop fasteners, that the ratchet opens and closes, or other signs of damage
• Gown: only use brand new and unused gowns. Inspect the gown for tears, cuts, loose stitching, cracks, discoloration, or other signs of damage.
